i am finally done recruiting my patients for AMS!! yippee!!
Des was so cute, he asked: "So Jacq, so what is going to happen to you now??" LOL>.<
i actually paused and thought "ya, i am redundant now." hahaha.... probably still tag along and hopefully get to do more clinical stuff :)
& i just received my project outline feedback after many many months. tanun received his and so i quickly check my email and there it was. i cant believe the AMS coordinator actually read each of our project outlines and type a page of feedback to us. how tedious. he actually even noticed my spelling mistakes.
he wrote:
"I am amused to note that in two consecutive paragraphs used the word 'standardisation'
and the word 'randomized'. This represents both British and American spelling in the
same document. In Australia we use British spelling, not American spelling. The fact
that Microsoft has the arrogance to assume our spelling is the same as theirs doesn’t
make it correct"
what sarcasm.. ;)
emm, noting tht i shall be more free after finishing recruitment, i decided to get a job. and i so i randomly went online and decided to apply for two tutoring jobs since i took the trouble to type my CV anyways. & lucky me, i got both! yays. one is brainless work at Kumon with small kids, the other is what i may not even be qualified to teach - biology year 12 - which is smiliar to College. i was quite stressed the day before i went for the first bio lesson, i actually dug out all my trinity notes and went through them! since the syllabus for VCE biology is different from Trinity, i went online and frantically searched for all the possible useful websites tht could help me cover up for the fact i haven touched biology since 4 years ago!!! haha..
& i am so glad yesterday went well. both girls were super nice and i felt a sense of accomplishment after teaching and talking for 2 1/2 hrs. haha. i hope they cldnt see how nervous i was. lol. One is Spanish the other girl is Lebanese. how cool is tht? :)
i am just glad for AMS. it has allowed me lots of new opportunities that i have never thought i wld do. :) meeting new pple, talking to pple, being surrounded my pple all the time still gives me a sense of insecurity, but at least i think i can cope better now. & i got my first proper job before 21! :):)
emm, yesterday mel said we sld all write 5 things we wanna accomplish before we turn 30. Tht is 10 years from now...
1) go on a "round the world" trip with my parents :)
2) engaged/married
3) open a bakery or a pharmacy
4) return to singapore with a job after specialisation
5) still be in touch with high school and uni friends - pple i hang out with now:)
ambitious enough?? :)

the moon seemed so near, so round and bright and beautiful. but i just cldnt take a picture nice enough to justify what i saw just from my balcony. >.<

been enjoying nice brunches this weekend. weather was perfect these two days, sunny and warm:) nice company + good food = :):):)
watched NINE on Friday, the ending was bad, but overall was quite an enjoyable one:)
"Tic Tock" by Kesha, fav. song at the moment - i am partying in my head the whole day, no wonder i am exhausted! :)
it was a very interesting moment.
it was funny when he smiled and asked "so how?"
his grin was mocking yet serious at the same time.
somehow i felt perhaps he understood what i was jabbering about.
how come i only noticed it now - that perhaps i have misread him all these while...
haha.. the revelation was indeed insightful enough for me to jote it down
this person never fail to amuse me.. but u probably wont read this so it's ok ;)

every muscle in my body hurts. the only thing i should do right now is sleep. :)
since saturday, there has been non-stop activities. Horseriding at Uncle Nev's was great, except it rained a little. tht took 5 hrs.
awake from 7am, i was a little drained by then. at night, we meddies had steamboat gathering, which was super spontaneous yet superbly successful. everyone was there:) talked and ate lots, by the time i reached home was past midnight. i realise how AMS actually made us closer, though we dont see each other in lectures everyday anymore. :)
sunday, i woke up to a hot day and decided to take a cold morning swim for an hr plus. i cooked lunch for my sis and i, washed up, vacuumed the whole apartment and yet in the afternoon, i was playing 3 hrs of badminton at albert park. ;) 8 of us - two courts, means we had little rest.
Monday had to wake up at 6am as usual for an early start into RMH. morning was great assisting scopes. by afternoon, i was dozing off every so often i decided i sld just go home. in the evening, we had another round of badminton which demanded much more out of my already tired body since everyone was so pro. HAHA. why am i playing badminton instead of tennis? ;)
today is australia's day - public hols means no work. :)
headed to chelsea beach and played the whole morning till i was half dead. haha. we were swimming against the waves, played volleyball on the sand, which was awefully hard to run on. the water was so clear but so so cold. i saw jet ski and speed boats zooming past, though sadly i didnt get the chance to try one. they created big waves for us to ride on though, as the boat drove past the waters! haha. did i mention the weather was really really good :) didnt get much of a sunburnt yet the sun was still shinning. thanks for the sunblock supplies!!
boxhill for lunch. didnt realise it was already 4pm by then. the prawn dumpling noodles there were as awesome as i remembered them to be. :0 and though my fav. mochi were sold out, i managed to get my GTRB buns!! ;) shortform. lols. **guess**
back home, i realise i have lots of laundry to do. had to iron my previous load of washed clothes and then load another pile into the washing machine. sometimes i wonder if ironing makes any difference to my image. LOL>.<>
anyways, there was an exciting tennis match to watch as i ironed those clothes. Nadal vs. Andy Murray. i nearly burnt my tee-shirt. lol.
& i managed to catch the fireworks at federation sq. from my place. means i didnt have to leave my hse, which i am determined to stay put in till tomorrow. hehe.. rest is needed for my aching body. how come i feel age catching up on me, even before i turn 21. ;(
only consolation: i had a freaking awsome past few days and i can CHOOSE not to go to work tmr! :)
P.S. this is an uninteresting post, just a random rant my muscles had to give after they were overworked! :)

u know when it is past the new year and till now, only till today, on the 2oth of jan that it sinked in. i recruited my first patient for 2010 and it does indeed feel weird. i wrote it wrong THREE times today, sighs...
i seldom blog now, thanks to facebook. pictures are uploaded by friends faster than i can even enter my front door. so i guess blogs are no longer needed for memories ya?? :) even my dad has facebook.
looking back is always fast. but indeed, it has been an awesome 2009. especially the last 6 months! sometimes i complain abt the office politics, but still i cant stop loving AMS, loving working and the flexible timetable! it has been rough too, trying to interact and talk to so many pple, esp when i am nt good with words. but it was a really important learning curve for me. i still feel intimidated after so many months, but at least i have been through it to survive better next time.
onto another thought,
my december hols were full of LOVES LOVES:) Vegas, sanfrancisco and LA didnt disappoint, and i especially love vegas. full of life and colour. i was surprised tht disney is too easy for me now.. i cld take all the rides w/0 skipping a heartbeat. :) the new theme park beside disney was better, with more thrilling rides. but i still conquered the most thrilling roller coaster there- california screaming-which made my US trip memorable!
sanfrancisco was full of shopping and how my sister and i survived thanksgiving day, with massive sales and even bigger crowds. it was scary. the lines were snaking thorough every shop, and i cldnt even be bothered trying on some clothes. it took us the whole day just to cover 2/3 stores. H&M and forever 21 were the highlights of my shopping spree.. and i got a new apple nano 5 in orange! thank my dad for it! lol. cause my bro and him had nothing to do while we girls + 1 woman (mum) shop.haha.
i am listening to it everyday now :)
14 days passed quickly enough. we covered many many many miles driving up and down, frm san fran to vegas, to LA and back to san fran... plus stopping for a night/two along the way. i was the map reader for most times, but then techonology replaced me and made me redundant. i hate to say it, but the GPS was our saviour for those many hours on the road. at least i was useful enough to guide my dad in following the instructions frm THT MACHINE since for some reason, he cldnt really follow instructions... one word : MEN!!! ;)
another thing, i found a yogurt franchise which i soso love tht i crave for it almost every day in vegas. it has green tea, coffee among many many many other flavours and with oh so fresh topping. they charge by weight and NOT yr typical $2 per topping kind so u cld help yrself to as much yogurt and toppings as u want and just weigh it at the counter...yummy and relatively cheap:) a self dispensing yogurt machine i sld have at home, right?
okok.. enough of US... back to spore for a few days and i was back in melb with my brother for his IT competition.
he stayed with his classmate near crown casino where the ASIAN IT competition was held. i stayed at home cos it wld be weird for me to crash their hotel room. but still, i looked for them daily, making sure they were nt up to nonsense. felt like a nanny. i was a really good one, i must say. dexter had so many requests for his melb trip, tht it seemed he was here on a holiday instead for work.
here is a run-through..be amazed.. :p
we went south melb beach, had fish and chips, bought a TUB of fredos tht he claimed wasnt enough to satisfy his gelato craving, went koko black for more calories than i was willing to put into my body, had to go vicmarket 3 times to buy ingredients for dinnerS (one night bolgogi, one night turkey, one night swordfish and trout), went to southWarf for shoppping (HE SPENT MORE THAN ME!!! >.<), went DFO for more shopping, went for crepes and more thick hot chocolate one morning, being forced to play tennis two days in a row in tht strong wind, watched AVATAR, more dinners & more touring.
wasnt tht the ultimate melbourne experience from this poor nanny?? :) HAHA...
but dont get me wrong.. i am nt complaining here, cos for all the things he had me do, i had fun too:) my stomach was well fed, i was well sun-tanned and i learnt what being a "MOM" really meant.... ;) no kids in future!! MUAHAHA>>.<<
anyways, back to spore ") - tagline : the one stop for happiness! -at least for me... LOL ... sldnt i work for the singapore tourism board??? i neednt need to think much on how my days wld be filled. if not meeting up with friends, my parents wld take me out. i had my share of fantastic meals and all the delicacies i have missed in melb. being around everyone at home just feels to right :):):):)
& i had two attempts at a 4D class reunion. the 2nd one was a success :) how i have missed those pple ;) everyone has moved on, but at least we still look back and come together for those times we shared:)
army has done wonders to the guys though. physically and mentally.haha... :)
it was fast... nt too long it was christmas then the new year. both being really fantastic with relatives and friends. :) i took 3 days of art class with my uncle and received many encouraging comments from everyone on my art... so weird!! really weird!! art???? never my thing... but maybe i have a little more patience now and take more pride in my work too perhaps??
thanks uncle sam:) u made my hols really meaningful this time.
ok, i know i cldnt say this, but i did more shopping... pre-christmas sales, christmas sales, post christmas sales, new year sales, post new year sales, pre CNY sales... .... .... ..... .... it goes on & on & on... more than 70% off all stock was flashing everywhere. zara, mango and massimo dutti was and is my current fave:) arent they all spanish brands??? ___OFF TO SPAIN AGAIN___ i have given up on FCUK and country road le. their clothes are so boring now.. :(
u know wat, thanks to those buys, i just got myself a BIG box from ikea to store the extra clothes tht my wardrobe has determined to push out... hehe.. the box now goes under my bed... :)
since i am back, still slacking. one week le yet today i offically did some work and had to write my first 2010 :) i was apprehensive abt gg back to face the whole crowd of theatre staff, but it was fine:O being away for so long and being back again.... was NICE:) i am glad to see everyone again. of coz esp. my two fav. supervisors who even encouraged me to go back for CNY since i am finishing up recruitment soon...
& it is the season for the australian open 2010~ Nadal vs Djokovic. tht wld be match i will be hoping for in the finals. the 'hit for haiti' charity exhibition match ahead of the 2010 Australian Open at Melbourne Park which saw 15,000 seats snapped up was the highlight for me this week. 8 greatest tennis stars under one roof, wat a rare opportunity:) thank you ql for queueing for the tickets :):) i have lots to thank u for, u know :)
ok, it is past 230am and i have taken 2 hrs to write this entry.. my muffins tht i have just baked before writing are nearly half gone! how efficient. ;)
& i am declaring my own holiday tomorrow.. AHHAAA...
planning a horse riiding on sat and a trip to sydney soon :) i MUST go there soon before ju finishes his masters. have been telling him i wld go since 2 years ago. OMG. >.<

Tuesday, November 10, 2009 @ 12:44 AM
HOT HOT HOT!!!OMG. yesterday was the hottest day in melb. 36.4 degrees!!! plus the weather is so dry... made me lose my voice plus more ulcers... lol ;)anyways, cant complain. cos i prefer warm than cold... haha...more gastroscopy and colonoscopy today. it's fun :P i just went to find the anaesthetist and asked if i cld tag along. did more drips and sedation. had propofol all over the nurse beside me cos the patient jerked suddenly and the syringe came out. haha. my fault** i think i overstep my boundaries sometimes, trying too hard to recruit patients and being a bit more persistance than i sld. but i guess i have to get things done even if some registars are nt pleased. sighs...& they say u cant please everyone. just hope my presence dont become a bother though. :( 3 patients for one morning.. yays:)another day tomorrow. more crap talk, more sucking up, more patient approaching, more coffee... :P typical day. BUT it's britney's concert! after 4 months it's finally here. time flies, cos i bought the tickets the last time i was in spore-june??? been shopping ard for shoes the past two days and i cant find any! how fraustrating!!;) more updates soon:)
Thursday, November 05, 2009 @ 3:29 AM
plans keep changing.....tht's why it's better nt to plan sometimes... "anticipation=disappointment". lol....
say bye to sydney le.. was so looking forward to spending time with ruixi, mark and kevin! :(
maybe i sld own a private jet with my own hot pilot and so i dont have to depend on the travel agents and the availability of seats. :)
its alright. i get to go back singapore on the 23rd. but flying off to vegas on the 25th. coming back spore on the 10th dec (i think) and possibly fly back to melb with dex on the 12th dec for his competition and then back to spore on the 18th dec. and n FINALLY back to melb by the first week of jan 2010.. can u imagine?? another year is gg to fly past...
i am still reeling in shock . i sld just live my life in denial. .. HAHAHA..
on the brighter side, i had an awesome day yesterday:) i got to do clinical stuff. love being hands-on. got to tag along my supervisor to gastroscopy... he taught me how to sedate patients with propofol, make sure they were still breathing of coz, put in more drips and how to report back to the nurse. because the turnover was fast, the afternoon list had like 6 patients and so i got lots of opportunity to infuse drugs;) it was so awesome;) & i learnt lots of new stuff too.. though i screwed up and my face turned SUPER red when reny threw me all those questions i shld know the answer to but i obviously DIDNT!!!. i learnt how to differentiate different types of murmurs and the different sounds i sld hear. the patient was so patient and let me hear his heart for like 4-5times cos i cldnt get whether it was a systolic or diastolic murmur!! he said i owed him $20. he sure deserved more though. hahaha...
i learnt tht the liver stores 500ml of blood and can store more if there is back pressure frm the right atrium.
i just felt the afternoon was so well spent. :):) i got a superb supervisor:)
**how come i feel i sound like such a nerd** lol...
to make things better, the evening was spent ard food, more coffee, gossip magazines, groceries and nice company??? haha.. :)
realised so many movies i wanna watch soon:) no.1- new mooon!! then there is the christmas carol 3D movie, the time traveller's wife etc...
to end badly, today suxed.. cos i had no patients, was so sleepy & i didnt do anything useful.. i came back early to try to sleep but coincidentally my phone rang like 4 times and i finally decide to give up trying to sleep... haha..:)
but i cleaned the hse and ironed all my clothes in time for my dad to come tomorrow morning!!!!!!
:):) hellos my "good" friend friend :):)
