WELCOME!!!
here is a round up of my holidays..
uni starts again and an early day light savings means that we have one less hour to our holidays too... i am still in holiday mood la...
anyways, singapore day on saturday was really good:) it was held at sidney myer bowl centre, a nice hilly gardens to hold it in..:) though the queues for FREE food was super long. i managed to cut lines thanks to friends but i guess if i were to wait accordingly, i wouldn't be able to have tried much. haha. but surprisingly, i would say the food was close to home:) and the hokkein mee, even if they used udon noodles instead, it still tasted good. :) i love the kaya toast from toastbox the most though.. HAHA. and it is the simplest thing to make! LOL.. the roti prata and the chicken rice was yum too...but the bakchormee which we queued over an hour for was a bit disappointing. the uncle put so much effort into each bowl, arranging the ingredients so nicely on the plate, we stood ages in the line... SIGH, and then the taste was only so-so... :(
but free food cannot complain right? haha. it was kinda cool they set up the stalls according to popular hawker centres in singapore, e.g. chomchom(rochester park), newton circle, dempsey hill etc... the main food sponsor was by "food republic" so there was the famous seargent chicken rice and the charkoayteow, BBQ chicken, chilli crab, nasi lemak, claypot rice etc...was available and cooked apparently by the hawkers themselves. but i was surprised to see a few "angmo" chefs>.< & the portions were rather generous too. i was surprised! :) tax payers money were being put into good use..haha..
there was a concert too. tay ping hui, gurmit (PCK and cast), spore idol Hardy, Daphane, Dick Lee etc.. were there to perform. i didn really catch much, due to my better interest in the food (LOL), but it provided entertainment while queueing. haha. i heard there was much propaganda involved, encouraging pple to go back to singapore etc... haha. i guess the govt. wants to benefit frm this event somehow.. haha..
anyways, the day passed really quick. i went at ard 12pm and only came out when the event ended at 5pm. thanks to Janice and Sharline I didnt have to queue to get through the entrance in the afternoon, cos when the gates opened at 1030am, apparently there was a snaking queue just to get in. both of them queued for over an hour and me, running all the way there, managed to join them just before they reached the gates. thanks so much:)
& sunday night was potluck at yitming's place...:) yummy food again>.<> the the "turtle cake" for wirawan was made by us! haha. janet got 5 macaroons and stuck them to the side of the blackforest cake and with black glutinous rice for the eyes and nose, it completed our "creative" cake! all thanks to yitming's idea! haha.. happy belated wirawan. :) cute right>> back to lectures :(
