hellos...back from hongkong:) 4 days is certainly not enough... lol...another great getwaway:) hehe.. i dream of gg on a round the world trip someday:) hehe...one more day wld have been great. my dad used to travel there so often for business but it's my first time:) had late nights and early mornings but still, not enough time..lol...an excuse for another trip there again. haha.anyways, first day was spent mostly on the plane, arrived in the evening, checked in at kowloon hotel which was right in the heart of the city, went to watch the daily lazer display at victoria harbour which had the most stunning view of the city skyline, had a nice chinese dinner and finally went to the night market for cheap bargains... got my leather belt i had been look for:) next morning, yumcha at maxim's at the central. was reading through the travel brochur and found this recommended restaurant. we decided to take a walk there instead of the train since we cld see more too and nearly got lost.. haha.. but the food didn disappoint. surprisingly though, HK timsum is more ex than melb and spore. maybe it was the restaurant. haha. took a cab to hollywood road, explored manmo temple before heading to the famous golden buddha in Lantau island by cable car:) the cable car trip took abt 25min each way, prob the longest ride i ever taken. so high up too. made me quite quesy. haha...but the trip was certainly worth it:) the man-made chinese village setting was really nice and oriental. we spent some time and effort climbing the never-ending flights of stairs to reach the buddha but eventually we did. haha.. so tiring. weak right?-.-we took the cable car back down after many photos and then took the MTR all the way to causeway bay for some shopping...my first reaction was "new york!" haha... the lights were dazzling and the crowd of shoppers were daunting. haha. such a massive shopping district, tall towers, huge shopping centres, neon lights and banners..i was lost in the crowd and actualy most shops and brands can be found here, in a less exaggerated fashion tht's all, so we decided to head for dinner since it was late. went to lei yu mun seafood bazaar, but it was a rather disappointing meal, cos they kinda cheated us. our meal cost us more than S$400 which wasnt worth it at all. for wat we ate, it wld be at least 30-40% cheaper... lol. i guess tourists suffer the same fate in all countries. -.-we were deciding between disneyland, ocean park and macau the third day, and eventually settled for macau since my parents concluded tht my sis n i were too 'old' for roller coasters and mickey. haha... took a 11/2 hr ferry ride there and the ferry was so rockey i felt so dizzy. sighsighs.. haha. stayed there the whole afternoon, walked ard the city centre and bought their local snacks, took a bus to 'the venetian', apparently the hottest casino resort hotel at the moment, gambled a bit at the jackpot machines, but mostly shopping at the many many dozen shops there. haha.took a night ferry back to HK island, this time the hydrojet which was much more comfortable and less rocky:) another yummy chinese dinner at the ferry terminal-a surprising find:) took the train to the ladies market and more shopping. haha. but many stores were selling the same thing and after a while it got boring. so we walked back to hotel for a nice sleep:)the last day was spent at harbourcity, the major luxury brand district. must say the stores were slashing prices up to 70-80% off, which made shopping all the more fun:) haha. i think our last day was the day we shopped the most too. hehe... an excuse to use up all the left over HK dollars.ahaha....now back to the quieter spore life again:) hmmm.... i think i will stop travelling for the time being.. haha..caught red cliff 2 today and i tot it was better than i first... :) quite comical too.. i am turning into a john woo fan. lol. hehe;)
