had lots of "first time" today :) reminds me of "winter sonata".... hehe...
recruited my first patient for my videolaryngoscope study
inserted my first venous line into an awake patient and i did it in one try:) perhaps everyone can do it too cos it really isnt tht hard. haha... maybe the patient had good visible veins
intubated the same patient too, and it was my first intubation as well
gave my first presentation in a long long time (since trinity i think)... 3 years!! lol. i was freaking out. was awake by 5am when the talk was 730am. sad case... >.<
and i realise this is the first time i truely enjoyed being in medicine:) AMS is treating me really well i guess:) though everyone thinks i am working too hard, being in theatre from 730am -6pm, but at least i am enjoying and learning at my own pace, with really nice people. no more boring lectures, tutorials and exams!!!!!! haha.
the only thing....i feel so inferior to everyone there. i think i am the youngest/inexperienced on the whole surgical floor of surgeons, anaesthetists, interns, etc... "insignificant" is still an understatement. haha..
it will take time to fit in but meanwhile i am just thankful tht i chose anaesthesia instead of the initial project at the women's hospital:):):)
i'm loving it:) weekends are great too cos i wont have to be staring at lecture notes like i used to. haha...
